Nazmul Hassan, the Chief Executive Officer of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (BPL) - the leading edge pharmaceutical manufacturer and the largest pharmaceutical exporter of Bangladesh, received ‘Deser Kagoj Business Award-2007’ for his extraordinary contribution in transforming the pharmaceutical industry of Bangladesh from an import dependent industry to an export oriented globally recognised pharma industry.
Mr. Hassan received the awards from Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, Honourable Advisor, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Education in a colourful award giving ceremony on April 1, 2008.
Mr. Nazmul Hassan has played a pivotal role behind the pioneering activities of Beximco Pharma regarding pharmaceutical export from Bangladesh. BPL has always been the leader and the flagship of Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry by setting new trends and exploring newer horizons of export opportunities. BPL was the pioneer in initiating export of pharmaceutical formulations & Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients from Bangladesh and was the first Bangladeshi company to explore the pharma markets of Africa, Central America, ASEAN region and the Oceania. Beximco pharma is also a major supplier of medicines to world renowned institutions like WHO, UNICEF etc. As an outcome of these efforts Beximco pharma has become the largest exporter of Bangladesh and has won the ‘National Export Trophy (Gold)’ for consecutive three times.

He is a respected business leader with excellent networks and business contacts. Nazmul Hassan is also serving as the Secretary General of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries since 2001. He is also a frequent speaker in many international pharmaceutical events on TRIPS Agreement (Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights) and Patents Rights, representing Bangladesh Government in many Pharmaceutical business related issues.
Nazmul Hassan obtained Bachelors degree in Public Administration and an MBA degree from the University of Dhaka and Executive Education in Marketing & Strategy at University of California, Los Angeles & North Western University, Chicago, USA.
Nazmul Hassan has received a number of awards in recognition to his business leadership, including ‘Arthakantha Business Award’ in 2001. He also received ‘Apnar Shasthya Shammanona Award’ in 2002, for his extra-ordinary contribution to pharmaceutical export sector of the country. He was also adjudged as the ‘Marketer of the Year 2002’ by Rapport Bangladesh Limited. In 2004, he received ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ from ‘The Financial Mirror’.
